    Today's Society

It seems that todays society has changed drastically since we were kids. I remember growing up being able to leave the door unlocked at my home when we went out without any worries of something happening. As a kid we would be able to go and hang out with our friends and it was not as scary as today. It seems that everytime that i turn on the television all i see is violent crime. What ever happened to the good old times where we could just hang out without a problem, relax without the worries of "are my kids ok?".

I know that it can said that todays society is the same as ours but with different obstacles to face. When i was young we did not have alot of money and everyone in the family would help out together, my father would work multiple jobs while my mother was at home taking care of us kids and the house. I remember being scared at school when we would have the bombing scares and hiding under our desks as if they would have saved us. It can be said that it is the same for our children, they have 9-11, we had Vietnam, they have school shootings (Columbine), we had race riots.

It is a different society but the same in other aspects.

What do others out there think??

Rest & Relaxation is all i see in my future.

    Re: Today's Society

I think many people today are becoming lazier, fatter, dumber, and expect everything to be done for them.  There are Billions of people elsewhere in the world that are now willing to work 100 times harder for much less pay, and as a whole are steady progressing and catching up to the Plateau that is our American mindset.  I do not know if it is specifically our education system ( which K-12 has fallen to #11 in the world) or higher divorce rates, change in our media, as well as many other factors not mentioned, but it seems to be showing our society is nearing its progressive peak.

I think we will have to re-learn a few lessons from less fortunate countries again on how to stay hungry and to keep learning to stay ahead of the curve before its too late and our youth is stuck looking from the middle of the pack.

After our generations is gone these kids are going to have some serious problems on there hands.  We are the only generation that stands for anything!

We have to set the proper example for our kids and our kids kids....(kind of scary).  I think we can make a change!

I also think that the mind set of todays society is almost ridiculious. These children commit serious crimes without any remose. They dont stand for anything and dont believe in the country that they live in. There are more people who vote for American Idol than do for the Presidential Election. Hopefully the choices that we make in the future will help change the mindstates of the children of today.
